James joined Western Surety in 2021 as our Chief Claims Manager. James leads the claims operations for Western Surety across Canada. James’s background includes 15 years of progressive experience in the P&C industry, working for national carriers which culminated in holding senior claims management positions and overall experience in a variety of divisions including Claims, Underwriting, and Broker.

James graduated in 2003 from SIAST with a Diploma in Business/Human Resource Management. He received his Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation in 2009 from the Insurance Institute of Canada, his Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation in 2015 from the University of Toronto and Global Risk Management Institute, as well as his Fellowship Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP) designation in 2018 from the Insurance Institute of Canada and Athabasca University in Alberta.

He received the Associateship of Canadian Surety Bonding (ACSB) designation from the Surety Association of Canada in 2023 and is currently working towards his Bachelor of Management Degree from Athabasca University in Alberta.
